About Invisalign® Treatment

Transforming smiles with sophisticated technology, Invisalign® is the world’s most advanced clear aligner system. Using specially engineered patented material, your teeth will move predictably and comfortably. Using data points from over 8 million smiles, Invisalign® knows how to move teeth more quickly and predictably so you’ll spend less time with your aligners before you get the ideal result you’ve always wanted, and since you can remove your aligners during home care and while eating, you don’t have to have it impact your lifestyle.

Healthier and Straighter Teeth

Misaligned teeth can lead to premature wear, tooth loss, gum disease, and the buildup of bacteria associated with bigger problems, including heart disease. More than seven out of ten American adults have issues with their bites, such as crowding, spacing, or overbites – your doctor may use the word malocclusion.

Health Benefits of Alignment

After we get you familiar with us, we’ll get to know you better. One of our caring hygienists or dental assistants will talk with you in more detail about your dental health. We will take digital X-rays and intraoral photos of your teeth. After all your photos are taken, one of our dentists will come to meet with you to talk about your dental health goals. The doctor will then do a full examination and explain what is found on the images and in your mouth, and the effects on your health.

Our dentist will provide you with treatment options. You will let the doctor know which options will work best for you at this time. We know our patients have busy lives, so it’s important to us that our recommended treatment fits into your life in terms of timing, budget, and other priorities. Our dentists always want you to leave our office feeling comfortable and confident about the treatment plan the timing, steps, pricing, and outcomes that can be expected.

Signs of Gum Disease

It’s hard to remove plaque and bacteria from misaligned teeth. This can lead to inflamed gums, soft tissue damage, receding gums, pockets between teeth and gums, bone loss, and tooth loss.

You can recognize unhealthy gums by observing these symptoms: red or inflamed gums, bleeding when you brush or floss, or bad breath.

Gum Deterioration

Poorly aligned teeth can put extra stress and pressure on teeth and the jawbone. This can be the cause of receding gums, gum disease, indentations at the gum line, cold sensitivity, chipped or fractured teeth, or tooth loss.

Overall Health Risks

Problems that start in your mouth can spread to the rest of your body. Severe gum infections may increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, lung disease, problems in pregnancy, complications related to diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease.

5 Invisalign® Benefits

Here are the top 5 reasons why Dentistry At Somerset recommends Invisalign® for your orthodontic treatment option.

1

Esthetics – the Invisalign® orthodontic system uses transparent plastic aligners which are virtually invisible! This means that when you wear them, they will not affect your smile and appearance. Rather, hardly anyone will notice that you are wearing these “invisible” aligners.

2

Convenience – teeth braces make it quite difficult, rather painful for you to eat. Well, that is not the case with Invisalign. You can simply remove your aligners whenever you want to enjoy eating your favorite foods. After you’re done, simply wash your aligners in warm water, and wear them again.

3

Comfort – unlike the traditional braces which are notorious for injuring the oral soft tissues, Invisalign aligners are completely safe and won’t cause any injury or pain.

4

Treatment Under your Control – another big advantage of the Invisalign system is that you can visualize the outcome of your treatment before it even begins. Special software will record a digital impression of your teeth, which will provide a virtual image of how your teeth will look after the treatment has been completed. Thus, you have complete control over your treatment, right from the beginning. Dentistry At Somerset is one of the only dentist offices in Ames that offers this technology.

5

Improved Oral Hygiene – It’s quite difficult to brush your teeth effectively when you are wearing teeth braces. On the other hand, you can easily remove your aligners when you need to brush your teeth. In addition, it also super easy to clean the aligners by simply washing them in warm water. As a result, Invisalign aligners are more teeth-friendly than conventional braces.

While there are other options out there for straightening your teeth, no others offer the level of convenience, comfort, and visual aesthetic during treatment that Invisalign does. No matter what your stage in life, Dentistry at Somerset offers a treatment that will have little impact on your day-to-day life during treatment with fabulous results after your treatment is completed.
In many circumstances, orthodontic aligners aren't necessary. When you visit us for your complimentary consultation we will provide you with an accurate, honest diagnosis. If you don't actually need orthodontic treatment we won't try and push you into getting it.
The length of treatment depends on the severity of your case and can only be determined by your doctor; however, the average case takes about 12 months for adults, slightly less time for young adults and teens. The length of time necessary for a teen patient may vary and can be determined by your doctor.
Invisalign results last just as well as traditional braces as long as you wear your retainers regularly as your we recommend.
Of course, there are, we won't lecture or judge you for your dental problems. Every patient is unique, and we understand that sometimes circumstances can lead to dental problems a patient might find embarrassing. Rest assured, our practice is proud of your choice to pursue a healthy smile.
Of course not. The consultation is completely free of charge. We are limited in how many consultations we can schedule during any given period - so make sure to schedule yours as soon as possible. A healthy smile and good oral health isn't something you should procrastinate about.
Many dental insurance plans cover Invisalign treatment just as they would other orthodontic treatments like metal braces. Our wonderful staff will help you to see if your insurance company will cover your Invisalign treatment. If for any reason it's not covered, we will let you know and will work with you to develop a financial plan. We will make this a smooth process for you.
We understand that orthodontic treatment can be expensive!. Ask our office about financing options or payment plans. CareCredit® offers reasonable interest rates for patients who need to finance their dental care.
